  • The short answer: I just love linen. I love the weight of it, the texture of it, the way it holds color, and it's easy to sew. The longer answer is that linen is a very sustainable fiber and has lots of great qualities for human use, such as being cooling in the summer, a comforting weight in the winter, and requiring 98% less water to grow than its counterpart, cotton. • I truly am an artist at heart, and most of the time I wait for inspiration to strike before picking up my adult crayon to draw a piece. Usually the colors, pattern, and design elements literally land in my mind’s eye randomly, and then I record what I see on paper, and then I put my engineer hands to work and the physical construction and design process begins.

  • I quote each piece on an individual basis depending on size and design complexity. As a general range, my queen duvet covers are usually between $800-1,000, and queen coverlet/quilts are usually between $1,400-1,900. For more information about custom pieces and the process visit my custom work page here.

  • I sure do! I love the process of engineering a completely custom piece for something special that may not be bedding. Please email me directly if you’d like to talk about a custom project. Click here to send me an email.

  • Linen is pretty resilient and will be ok in whatever normal wash you do, hot, cold etc. However, there are a few caveats you should keep in mind:

    • Vibrantly colored linen may bleed in extra hot washes. I recommend washing your vibrantly colored pieces in cold water only. Everything I make is pre-washed, but to avoid some bleeding from bold colors into light colors use cold.

    • Never bleach linen, it will damage the fibers and color. For whites, I’d recommend using your favorite natural bleach alternative.

    • Linen is inherently linty. Especially after your first wash, you may find more lint than usual in your dryer trap. Your piece is fine, do not be alarmed.

    • To avoid wrinkles, take your pieces out of the dryer while still damp and line dry or lay flat to dry.

    • It is safe to iron linen with your iron’s hottest setting. The “memory” of the fabric to hold wrinkles is very strong! So you need both steam and hot heat to get them out. Sometimes it's helpful to mist your linen with a spray bottle before ironing to get tough wrinkles out.

If you purchased a custom bedding piece, you will receive special washing instructions for it. Please follow those instructions and use the above as a general guideline. If you have questions or concerns about the care of your piece, please email me directly here.
